Step 2: Primary Treatment
Surgery & Temporary Bridge
This Visit Includes:
Primary Treatment FAQs
Your surgery will always take place the day after you arrive, giving you time to relax, check into the hotel, and get your bearings. If you arrive earlier in the day, we may also carry out your X-ray and 3D scan that same afternoon — allowing us to begin planning your treatment straight away while you settle in.
If your flight is delayed, there’s no need to worry — we will simply adjust your treatment time on the day. In the unlikely event of a cancellation, we will move your treatment to fit your revised travel plans and take care of rearranging your airport transfers for you.
The timing depends on your treatment plan. If you are on a two-visit schedule, you’ll select the shade of your new teeth during your first visit. If an intermediate visit is recommended, then the shade will be chosen at the second appointment, before the final bridgework is made. Our team will guide you through the options to ensure you achieve a natural, confident smile.
For your primary treatment visit, most patients stay three nights: arriving the day before surgery, having treatment on the Friday or Saturday, and returning home on Sunday. Your stay at the Capri by Fraser Leipzig — an excellent 4-star hotel just a short walk from the clinic — is included in your Masterclass package, so everything is arranged for your comfort and convenience.
No payment is required upfront. At your first visit, 50% of the total treatment cost is paid. The balance is then split across your later visits — typically 25% at the second and 25% at the third, or a single 50% payment if only two visits are needed. This way, your payments are always aligned with the progress of your treatment.
It’s very common to feel anxious about dental treatment, and your comfort is always central to the way we care for you. We take time to listen, explain each step clearly, and create a calm, supportive environment so you feel at ease throughout. If needed, we can also provide gentle relaxation support, such as a prescribed tablet, though most patients find our approach alone gives them the confidence they need. In Germany this type of care is known as Angstpatienten — literally “anxious patients” — and we bring that same specialist understanding to every treatment.
Yes. You will always be provided with a temporary bridge following your implant surgery, so you are never without teeth. These are natural-looking and aesthetically pleasing, and there is no additional fee for them. Once healing is complete, they are replaced with your permanent zirconia bridgework.
Some soreness or swelling is normal in the first few days after surgery, but it is short-lived and manageable with standard painkillers such as ibuprofen. We also provide clear aftercare guidance to help you stay comfortable as you recover.
The surgery itself usually takes a few hours, depending on how many implants are being placed. Our team stays closely by your side, explaining each step and making sure you are comfortable throughout. You’ll return the following day for a short review, which allows us to confirm we are fully happy with everything before you go home.
Step 3: Healing Phase
Recovery At Home (2–6 Months)
We believe in providing comprehensive care even after you’ve returned home. We’ll stay in touch to guide you through the healing phase and provide any necessary healing phase instructions. Rest assured, our dedicated team is always available to answer your questions and provide ongoing support.
Your journey to a healthy and confident smile doesn’t stop at our clinic. We’ll be with you every step of the way, ensuring that you continue to experience the benefits of your new teeth and enjoy a renewed quality of life.

Healing Phase FAQs
Healing is most often around 4 months, which is the usual timeframe when bone grafting has been carried out. If no grafting is needed it may be as little as 2 months, while in more advanced cases with larger grafts it can extend to 6 months.
Complications can sometimes occur during healing, and if they do, we react immediately. Our first step is always to address any symptoms or discomfort, and this may include prescribing a further course of antibiotics. There is never any additional cost for managing complications.
You will have direct contact with our team via WhatsApp throughout the entire healing phase. In most cases, we respond within minutes, so you are never left waiting or worrying.
Yes. We partner with a trusted dental practice in Hammersmith, London, so if prompt in-person care is needed you have local support. We would work with you to decide whether local treatment or a return visit to Germany is the best option in your circumstances, so you always feel fully supported.
Our treatments are carried out to the highest standards with excellent success rates, but on occasion an implant may not integrate as planned. If this happens, you are fully covered by our guarantee, and our specialist team will resolve the situation — either by replacing the implant or adapting the plan strategically, so the final result is not compromised.
Step 4: Secondary Treatment Visit
Depending on the treatment you have received, this second treatment phase is split up into two paths. In most cases, patients will have 3 visits total (Previous visit + 2 more outlined in this section).
Visit 2 – Impressions & Bite Registration
Visit 3 – Final Bridge Fitting
Secondary Treatment FAQs
Our approach is always to prioritise the best outcome. For most patients this means two further visits: one for impressions and bite registration, and another for fitting the permanent zirconia bridge. In some cases, if primary stability was sufficiently high, treatment may be finalised in a single visit.
Your secondary visits are at our modern clinic in Potsdamer Platz, in the heart of Berlin — with excellent direct flight connections from the UK and Ireland.
Each secondary appointment takes 2–3 hours. Most patients stay overnight in Berlin for convenience, but same-day travel is possible if preferred to fit your own schedule.
When three visits are planned, the second visit is an intermediate stage before your final bridge fitting. This may involve further extractions, updated scans, or new records such as impressions — all chosen for medical reasons to ensure your new teeth are fitted under the best conditions.
Your new teeth — specially designed and bespoke-manufactured for you — are fitted and adjusted so your bite feels natural and comfortable. This is the moment your treatment journey is complete, and you can enjoy your new smile with full confidence.
Step 5: Aftercare
Back Home, With Confidence
Having your final bridge or crowns fitted does not mean the end of our relationship with you — far from it. We see aftercare as a long-term partnership. In reality, Berlin is little more than an hour’s flight away from most UK and Irish airports, and many of our UK and Irish patients return to us for implant check-ups, sometimes even bringing family or friends who also decide to have treatment.
We are always delighted to see our patients again, and we remain available to support you with every aspect of your aftercare. Whether it’s routine advice, arranging hygienist visits, or dealing with a concern, your care from Smile Health continues well beyond your final fitting — because once you are our patient, you remain our patient.
Aftercare FAQs
We’ll give you clear guidance during the healing phase, but once everything has settled, you clean your implants just like natural teeth — brushing twice daily and using interdental brushes where advised. Good daily hygiene is the foundation for long-term success.
Yes. We recommend visiting a local hygienist three times a year. This is the single most important ongoing step to keep your gums and implants healthy, alongside your usual dental check-ups.
Around every 18 months, it is beneficial for the crowns to be removed, so the implants can be professionally cleaned. If you wish, we are very happy to carry out this procedure for you at our clinic.
If you ever notice something unusual, you should contact us straight away. You are fully covered by the Smile Health 5-Year Guarantee, which means any necessary remedial work will be carried out with no additional dental costs to you.
In addition, the implants themselves are backed by the manufacturer’s lifetime guarantee, giving you long-term peace of mind alongside our ongoing commitment to your care.
